It is possible in LawMaster to link entities together from a Parent / Child perspective so that related entities can be grouped together from the point of view of establishing total fees worth and creating Combined and Related Debtors Statements.
Step-by-step guide
Summary:
- Setup the relationship types (if they don't already exist)
- Relate the entities together
- Set the 00-R23083 parameter to Y so Top Client Search can include the "Credit Control" entity relationship
- Create a Combined Debtor statement
Detailed Steps:
- Setup the relationship types (if they don't already exist)
- Go to Menubar > Parameters > Matter and Client > Entity Relationship Types
- Make sure the following relationship types exist:
- ZM-ZS Credit Control - Parent
- ZS-ZM Credit Control - Child
- If they don't exist, then:
- Go to Menubar > Parameters > Matter and Client > Entity Relationship Types
- Right click on the grid and select Add
- Setup a relationship as per this screenshot:
- Click OK
- Right click on the grid and select Add

- Click OK
- Go to Menubar > File > Reset Login Settings to see the change
- Relate the entities together
- Go to Menubar > Enquiries > Entities Search
- Search for the parent Credit Control entity
- Select the entity
- Select the Related Entities tab
- Right click on the Grid and select Add
- Select the Relationship Type of ZM-ZS
- Select the child entity
- Click OK
- Repeat steps d. to h. for each child Credit Control entity
- Set the 00-R23083 parameter to Y so Top Client Search can include the "Credit Control" entity relationship
- Go to Menubar > Parameters > Miscellaneous > Maintain type '00' parameters directly
- Make sure the R23083 parameter exists and is set to Y
- If it doesn't exist then:
- Go to Menubar > Parameters > Miscellaneous > Maintain type '00' parameters directly
- Right click on the grid and select Add
- Set the Code to: R23083
- Description to: Top Search includes Credit Control entity relationship
- Flag to Y
- Click OK
- Go to Menubar > File > Reset Login Settings to see the change.
- If the parameter has been setup correctly you will see the Use "Credit Control" entity relationship option when using the Top Clients Advanced Entity Search
- Create a Combined Debtor statement
- Go to Main Menu > Accounting > Debtors > Enquiry > Debtor Workbench
- Select the parent entity
- Right click on an invoice for the Parent Entity
- Select Generate Statement(s)
- Tick the Related Debtors option
- Click OK
- This will generate a combined statement including all child credit control entities invoices.
| NOTE: It doesn't follow more than one "link" of relationship. So it it will report on credit control "children", but not "grand-children". |
