This will allow selecting a number on a screen and the phone call to be triggered. It will not recognise a number from someone dialling in.
Step-by-step guide
With regards to setting it up with LawMaster, the steps are as follows:
- The phone system needs to be TAPI 3 compliant.
- The TAPI 3 compliant driver needs to be installed on each PC that you want to make calls from LawMaster with.
This driver is usually supplied by your telephony provider. - Enter the following information for your TAPI Telephony system in LawMaster:
- Go to Parameters > Set Parameters > Miscellaneous > Processing Options
- TAPI Device – This is required to set up LawMaster to support dialling of a telephone from within LawMaster. The name of TAPI device should be entered here.
- Place before phone no – Most PABX’s require you to dial a ‘0’ or a ‘9’ to select an outside line. (<> can be added to include the matter number) e.g. *60#<>#0
- Place after phone no – This field will add the entered characters after the phone number. (<> can be added to include the matter number)
- Make sure that the 00-TAPI parameter exists and the flag is set to Y:
- Go to Parameters > Set Parameters > Miscellaneous > Maintain type '00' parameters directly
- Make sure an entry exists like so with the Flag field set to Y:
- Go to Parameters > Set Parameters > Miscellaneous > Processing Options
- The integration basically allows the user to:
- From an entity, right click and select Phone.
- A phone number dialog box is presented for that entity and the user selects the number they want to call.
- When they click OK the phone call is initiated.
