Upgrade Database Server

This topic describes how to upgrade the database software.

Have A Roll-back Plan 
Before proceeding with the upgrade make sure you have a usable backup and a plan how to roll changes back in case upgrade did not work properly. Test upgrade procedure on a non-production environment first (e.g. Training or Development) to familiarise yourself with the procedure and identify possible issues. 

To backup LawMaster database:

  1. Start LawMaster Administration on your LawMaster Application Server
  2. In the left-hand side menu go to Main Menu -> Application service and select environment to backup in the main window (e.g. MyLawFirmProduction)
  3. In the top menu select Backup/Restore Backup Database and select where to save backup

 

Upgrade the Database Server Software:

On the database server:

  1. Click Start > All Programs > LawMaster Administration. 
  2. Select File > Application service form.
  3. When you Open the Application Service screen in LawMaster Administration, you might be prompted with the following warning message.
    Click OK to continue
    1. Then, locate the Admin Service and click the Update Application Service button.
    2. The following warning message will display.
      Click OK to continue
    3. The following message will display upon successful update of Application Service.
      Click OK and proceed to upgrade your database as you normally do
  4. Select the practice management application service to configure.

  5. If the other company name is populated, make a note of the name and type.
  6. Click update application service.
  7. Select the latest version, if it is not already selected, and click OK. The 'xxx' in the image below represents the latest build number. The upgrade may take some time to complete
