LawMaster Performance Issues

This document outlines the steps to follow if a user experiences slowness in LawMaster when opening or merging folios or templates.

Pre-checks

Confirm whether the slowness is also occurring outside of LawMaster. If it is, check that the performance metrics, including CPU and memory usage, are within acceptable thresholds. This can be verified via Start Menu > Task Manager > Performance.

If performance levels are not within acceptable limits, please inform IT to assist with the below.

Solutions

Step 1: Run Internet speed test to confirm that it’s at good bandwidth.
- In google chrome, search for ‘Speed Test’ and run the test.

Step 2: Check that the Windows and Office have been patched and are up to date. If not, then please do so and restart the device.

Step 3: Ensure that no large queries or resource-intensive applications are running while LawMaster is in use.

Step 4: Ensure that antivirus live scanning is not enabled. If it is, inform IT to disable this policy on your workstation, as it can impact performance when accumulated files are being scanned.

If the above steps have been completed, please provide the performance logs from File Explorer in the following directory to assist with investigating the cause of the slowness.

C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\LawMaster\PracticeManagement\Logs

Insert the widows profile username into the %UserName% section.

If the user is on Ireland or later you can also access the logs from within LawMaster > Menubar > Help > About > View Logs.

Please attach the logs to the LawMaster support ticket so a technician can review them.

Note: LawMaster is not supported on terminal servers.
