Adding a Deed Record for an Entity

Modified on Thu, 8 Feb at 1:46 AM

Add a Deed to an associated entity in LawMaster from the context menu on the Deeds screen.

Steps

  1. Go to Enquiries > Deeds. The Deeds screen will appear.
  2. Search for the client to associate the deed record to. On the Search By list, located at the top-left end of the screen, expand the list and click

  3. The Search By Client pop-up will appear

  4. Click the look-up ellipsis (…) to choose a Client from Entity and Matter Search. You can search by Entity Name, Address, ID, Matter, Attribute, or Telephone.
  5. Select the client from the grid and click OK. All the deed records associated with the selected client display.

  6. Right-click anywhere on the top grid and select Add from the context menu. The Add Deed screen displays.
  7. Check that the client entity ID is correct and that it is the client to whom the deed belongs.
  8. Relate the deed to the matter it was created on by clicking the ellipsis lookup (…) on the Matter field. The Entity and Matter Search screen displays with open matters for that client. Select the required matter and click OK.
  9. Enter the other information in the relevant fields and click OK to save the record.
  10. The system will prompt if you want to create a Bring-up for the deed. You may create a bring-up if this record is to be reviewed e.g. a lease renewal or to update a will in 5 years' time. Click Yes or No, as required.

The Deed record is now added for the selected entity with a system-generated Deed Number. Next, you can attach for example a scanned PDF of the deed to the deed record.
