General ledger shows the date that we input. Is there a way to have the transaction date equal to received date instead?

You tried to record an Input Cash Receipt into LawMaster, but the general ledger only shows the date of the input instead of the received date.

Is it possible to have the transaction date equal to received date instead of the input date?

Answer

No, the General Ledger Transaction Date can only record the date that the total amount received was posted to the General Ledger.

This restriction is due in part to the fact that any given General Ledger receipt transaction can be a single transaction that represents one or more cash receipt transactions together with the possibility that the receipt transactions making up that General Ledger transaction could have different Received Dates.

e.g. A payment could be received late one day and processed together with payments received the next day.

When the End of Day is run a single receipt transaction for each bank is posted to the General Ledger despite the fact that the total for each bank can be made up of individual receipts received over 2 (or more) days.

NOTE: However if you want to see the individual receipts that relate to a particular General Ledger transaction you can select the 'Source' tab in the General Ledger Transaction Enquiry module.

For Example:
  1. Go to Menubar > Enquiries > General Ledger Transaction
  2. Enquiry Enter Account 2215 (Receipts for Bank 21)
  3. Search
  4. Select / Highlight the transaction dated in question
  5. Select the Source tab at the bottom of the display and you will see all the receipt transactions (for all banks) that were posted to the ledger in that particular End of Day run.
