LawMaster generates the CRN and Check Digit using the MOD10V01 - Modulus 10 Check Digit Routine from the matter number with leading zeros.

Step-by-step guide

To check the CRN you will need the BPAY biller code that is being entered with the CRN

  1. Go to https://www.bpay.com.au/Business/Small-Medium-Business/CRN-Generator-Tool/CRN-Generator-Tool-Form.aspx
  2. Enter the Biller Code, click the search magnifying glass button which should result in a green tick and then click Begin

  3. Select the option: "I would like to create CRNs using unique customer numbers"
  4. Then select the option: "I would like to create a single CRN"
  5. Then enter the Unique customer number of: eg) 00001672
    NOTE: They are all numbers
  6. Which should result in a green tick

  7. Then click Generate and it should result in success, the CRN of 000016725 and the Check digit of 5

So some things to check:
  1. Make sure the CRN being entered is all numbers and there are no O's or other letters, characters or spaces being used
  2. If the CRN is correct but still not working check with your Bank/BPAY to see if they can shed any further light on the issue.
