LawMaster crashes when opening a PDF Folio

Modified on Mon, 19 Feb at 2:02 AM

As of LawMaster version Canada R2, Adobe Acrobat DC is one of the whitelisted applications you can use to view a PDF file. The folio document will also check back in to LawMaster when you close the program. Contact help services to upgrade to Canada R2 or see the Editing Folio Attachments Knowledge Base article for more information about editing a PDF folio.

Problem

Able to open 1 PDF folio without issues. Opening a second PDF folio or re-opening the same PDF folio the user gets error: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

Solution

Any LawMaster version previous to Canada R2 does not support Adobe Acrobat DC. We recommend the following:

  1. Please ensure if the user is using Acrobat Reader DC to go to Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced). De-select "Enable Protected Mode at startup". Close Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  2. Un-install Adobe Acrobat (All versions, in case there is more that one.)
  3. Re-install the latest version of Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat Reader.
