Problem

What does the error mean, Object reference not set to an instance of an object?

Solution

This is a generic error message: it generally means the action that you are trying to produce is not capable of being produced because there is an error and something is missing, for example, user account details in LawMaster are wrong (i.e. email address, resource type etc).

If you are given the option of logging a report with LawMaster, chose that option and then report it to Helpdesk or if you do not get a log option and are unable to identify the issue, please provide the steps you have taken prior to the fault for further investigation.

Also please send the logs to the LawMaster Helpdesk (support.lawmaster.com.au).

To do this:
  1. Go to the affected users PC
  2. Go to C:\Users\<>\AppData\Roaming\LawMaster\PracticeManagement\Logs Where <> is the Windows username of the affected person
  3. Copy all the log files in that folder.
