Problem
When logging on, the following error message is received: Unable to cast COM Object....
As a result can not access folios in LawMaster or drag or drop emails into LawMaster.
Solution
There are multiple causes for this but the suggested troubleshooting process is as follows (run these as separate processes incrementally, hopefully the first will solve it for you):
- Ensure all windows and office updates are applied, then reboot;
- Uninstall the LawMaster outlook addin and reinstall it, then reboot;
- Disable all 3rd Party Outlook addins (with the exception of the LawMaster Add-in), then reboot;
- Disable all Word addins, then reboot;
- Make sure you are using 32bit Outlook and Word (Unless you are on Cuba R2, in this case, 64-bit is okay) and only one version of Outlook and Word is installed.
- This is a known issue with Outlook and has also been reported by other 3rd party addins:

- Run the repair Office process - refer to:
- Below are links to their knowledge bases where they have mentioned workaround steps:
- Recreate the Outlook profile, then reboot;
- Recreate the Office profile, then reboot;
- Reinstall Office.
- Recreate the Lawmaster User Data folders with Appdata\Roaming\Lawmaster\\
- Most of the time it gets fixed by checking / running the MS Office updates
