How to Delete an old Template

You have an old document template in LawMaster (Main Menu > Workflow Development > Document Templates) but when you try to delete it you get the following error message:

Unable to delete document template - There are folios that have been set to user this document template. You will have to change the document template on these folios to another value before you can delete. Error Raised by usp_rm_pre_Before

Step-by-step guide

Recommendation: Rather than trying to delete the template set the template to inactive: 

1. Go to Main Menu > Workflow Development > Document Templates 
2. Select the template in question 
3. Right click on it and click Modify 
4. Untick the Active box and remove anything in the Group box 
5. Click OK

TIP: Should you also want to ensure that the document template's content is removed, upload a new blank document from the Modify screen. This will overwrite the template. 

To completely delete the template record (not recommended): 

1. Go to Enquiries > Folios 
2. Select "Document Search" form the Search drop down 
3. Click Search 
4. Click the ... button for the Document template line and select the template you want to change 
5. Click OK 
6. Change your Max records as needed 
7. Select all the resulting folios
   (NOTE: you may need to do this whole process (steps 1. to 14.) in batches if there a lot of folios returned) 
8. Right click on the selected folios 
9. Click Modify 
10. Click the ... for Document Template 
11. Select the new template you want to assign these folios for 
12. Click OK 
13. Don't change any other fields 
14. Click OK
