The below Instructions will guide users through installing the Client Side files for the new client side installs. For the version number prerequisites of programs that LawMaster requires, review the release notes for the version you are installing to; they can be viewed here.
Client Install Instructions:
The server-side components are deployed by LawMaster technicians on the LawMaster Hosted or on the On-Prem server as applicable. The following instructions will outline the installation of the Client-Side software on the end user's computer(s).
- Pre-requisites:
- The required version of Dotnet depending on the version of LawMaster that you are upgrading to
- VSTOR_40.exe
These should already be installed by default on the latest release Windows 10. If they are not they, can be downloaded from the LawMaster Menubar > Client Service Centre > Other Downloads (Click Here.)
For the Hardware and Software minimum requirements, refer to the minimum specs and release notes for the latest release of LawMaster.
If LawMaster has never been installed on a end users PC, please ensure that a Folder called LawMasterV10Installs is created on the C:\ Drive and within this folder another folder called Release Files is created and within that folder, another folder called Client is created.
Eg. C:\LawMasterV10Installs\Release Files\Client
- Download and Install Client Files:
- The Client-side install files are available from the Client Service Centre at the following location:
- Home > Releases > Select the Version of LawMaster that you are installing or upgrading to.
- Home > Releases > Select the Version of LawMaster that you are installing or upgrading to.
- Download all three Client Install files by either saving them to the Release Files > Client folder in the LawMasterV10Installs folder on your C: or network Drive, by right clicking on the links and select 'save link as' or copy them to this location from your Downloads folder
- Close any open Microsoft Applications (including Outlook that may be running in the background) and open sessions of LawMaster. Click on the .msi files in the Release Files > Client folder in the LawMasterV10Installs folder to perform the installation. These can be installed in any order, though it is recommended to Install the Outlook Add-in tool last.
NOTE: If you are installing LawMaster as part of an upgrade to a newer version, the Outlook Add-in tool should only be installed once our technical team have confirmed that your Production Database has been upgraded successfully. If installed before this happens, the LawMaster synchronisation with Outlook will break and not work.
NOTE: Make sure to install the LawMaster applications from this folder and not from any other location (such as the downloads folder) on your computer.
- The Client-side install files are available from the Client Service Centre at the following location:
- Post Installation:
- If installing LawMaster for the first time, then you will need to save a copy of the LawMaster.Location.config file to the C: \LawMasterV10Installs folder that was supplied to your organisation during your implementation. You can do this by either:
- Going to a PC that already has LawMaster installed and copy the LawMaster.Location.config file from C:\LawMasterV10Installs on that PC to the same location on the new computer
- Contacting our HelpDesk team to request the needed config file.
- Testing LawMaster Practice Management Application:
- In Windows: Using Start Menu > Programs > LawMaster > LawMaster.
- On a new Install for clients going live for the first time: Select "Practice Management Training" from the Application service name dropdown Please note: Production is disabled to view and will appear in the list post go-live
For all other instances, your Production database should already be live, so you can select this database to test if the installation has been successful. - Select User Authentication
- Type in Username and Password. These are usually provided by the Implementation Team. If you do not have them available, please contact the LawMaster HelpDesk for further assistance.
- Click "OK" button
